DDA conducts its Annual Review meeting for the Fiscal year 2079/80!!!

In the gracious presence of Honorable Health and Population Minister Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet, the Department of Drug Administration (DDA) proudly announces the Annual Review Meeting for the Fiscal Year 2079/80 was held on 29th of Bhadra, 2080. The meeting was conducted in the presence of Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Roshan Pokhrel, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Bikash Devkota, Chief from DDA Branch offices, representatives from Department of Health Services, Department of Livestock Services and other stakeholders namely APPON, NCDA, MIAN, PDAN, NPA, NPC.

The major objective of the meeting was to review the progress over activities carried out by the Department, Branch offices and NML in the fiscal year 2079/80, discuss on the issues and challenges faced while performing works and derive way forward in order for solving the issues in coming days. 

The meeting was inaugurated by the Honorable Health and Population minister followed by his inaugural remarks in which he highlighted on the Constitutional rights of the Citizens of Nepal to basic health services. He urged DDA to move forward proactively encouraging the pharmacist/assistant pharmacist/vyawasahi performing good work and punishing the ones who violate the rules. Similarly, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Roshan Pokhrel on his inaugural remarks highlighted on the issues regarding to the price of medicines, nutraceuticals and facilitation of the Intensive care/Emergency medicines. He also stressed on the commitment to strengthen regulatory capacity and structure through the establishment of DDA and NML on seven provinces.

Director General Mr. Narayan Prasad Dhakal then presented on the Organizational structure, scope of work, responsibility of DDA and its other policy roles. The progress works of the department with major tasks accomplished in the fiscal year 2079/80 was presented by Mr. Pramod K.C., Senior Drug Administrator. The progress works of the NML, branch offices followed thereafter and the floor was open for discussion regarding the issues and challenges faced while performing works. The major issues raised during discussion were how to manage the professionals registered the department who dispense only category “C” medicines, the medicine firms who have not renewed their certificates issued by the department, GPP/GSDP trainings, Pharmacist working on Industries but also have their name of the medicines firm registration certificate, reserve antibiotics, renewal of vywasayi card for old aged, for the physically disabled professionals and registration of pharmacies of government hospitals.
